The Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm at 50 Carby Street. Check the calendar on the homepage to confirm the exact time, location, and agenda. All meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee seeks to make Westwood a more "walkable" and "bikeable" community by engaging residents and Town departments in an ongoing process of identifying needs, designing solutions, and implementing improvements. The Committee researches ideas on how to encourage walking and biking by consulting with neighboring towns, attending presentations from local agencies, meeting with our own Public Works Department, and seeking input from Westwood residents.

Meetings are typically held on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Westwood Community Trails

Westwood Community Trails invites residents to hike and explore the Town's trails and learn more about their importance to the community. This program is sponsored by the Town of Westwood Department of Public Works and the Recreation Department, guided by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee, and administered by Hale Education. Monthly guided hikes (typically on Saturday mornings) vary in distance and topography and explore areas throughout the Town as well as Hale. These hikes and more Hale events can be found here.  To learn more and receive notices, email coordinator Rich de Reyna at westwoodcommunitytrails@gmail.com.

Help Clean Up your Neighborhood during Earth Week

Volunteer by organizing your own trash pickup with your family or friends in your own neighborhood or anywhere in Town on your own schedule during Earth Week.  Just complete your clean up at any time during the week of Earth Day or the weekend before or after.  Find more information here (April Only) and register your clean up. Thank you!

Complete Streets

The Committee worked closely with the Department of Public Works to draft a Complete Streets Policy. A Complete Street is one that provides safe and accessible options for everyone, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders of all ages and abilities. The Select Board adopted a Complete Streets Policy in September of 2015 and Westwood became an official Complete Streets community in 2016 after Town Meeting approval. A list of current projects funded through the Complete Streets MassDOT Program is available here.
