The Town of Westwood is scheduled for a Recycling Audit in the very near future and it is essential that every resident cooperate to ensure there are no contaminants in ALL recycle barrels. The last audit showed Westwood recycling contamination had increased significantly (MRF’s contamination threshold is 10% as of October 2023 Westwood’s rate was 17.6%) and if this is not corrected additional charges will apply. The goal of the Department of Public Works (DPW) is to provide quality of life in Westwood by operating and maintaining the Town’s infrastructure and assets in a sustainable, efficient manner to protect the public's health and well being; provide for the environmental, economic, and social needs of the community; and beautify our town.
The Town’s infrastructure includes: the sewer collection system; storm drain system; roadways, sidewalks, bikeways, and other transportation facilities; street lighting and traffic control devices; buildings, grounds, fields, and parks; cemeteries; solid waste and recycling programs; municipal vehicles and equipment; and public facilities.
The Director of Public Works is responsible for overall management of the department's operations.
