What is the difference between a Bulk Item and a White Good Item?
Bulk items are furniture items, desk, mirror, rug etc. (nothing with a plug)
White Goods are items such as washers, dryers, small compact metal items, refrigerators, televisions, or computers.

Household Bulk Collection Events are every Spring and Fall (weeks of March 18th & October 14th 2024) on your regular collection day.  Residents can place one bulk item at their curbside (by 7AM) for pickup free of charge on your regular scheduled trash day. This is for bulk items only, NO appliances, TVs, computers, monitors (nothing with a plug), metal items, construction, hazardous or yard waste.  Think of a wooden piece of furniture; large plastic item such as a kayak or children's play toy.  Click here for more information

 Overflow Trash

Overflow TrashWestwood residents are provided one 65-gallon trash cart for weekly trash pickup.

  • All trash must fit inside the cart so that the lid is fully closed.
  • No material may be sticking out of the cart.
  • Items outside of the cart will not be collected unless in the approved overflow bags.  Nothing can be placed on top of your carts.

Over Flow Bags

Overflow BagFor extra trash, you will need to use Town of Westwood overflow bags.  The overflow bags are available at the locations listed below and are sold in rolls of 5 bags for $10 (each bag holds 33 gallons of trash).  Just fill the overflow bags and place at curbside next to your trash barrel on your regular trash collection day.

    • Roche Brothers Supermarket - 338 Washington Street, Westwood
    • Walgreen's - 683 High Street, Westwood
    • Town Hall - Town Clerk's Office 580 High Street, during regular business hours (check or exact change is requested)
    • DPW Offices - 50 Carby Street during Monday - Friday,  7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (check or exact change is requested)

EVERYTHING to be collected (trash, recycle, yard waste & bulk) must be at curbside by 7am on your scheduled day.  ANY missed pick-ups (that were at curbside by 7am) need to be reported to dpw@westwoodma.gov or 781-251-2587 within 24 hours of your scheduled day.
