Permit Types

Burn Permits

Burn permits must be be applied for online.  You will need to allow 3 to 5 business days to receive the approved permit.

Please visit: westwoodma.viewpointcloud.com and select the Annual Burn Permit under the Fire section.

Welding, Cutting & Other Hot works

Anyone applying for a Hot Works permit from the local fire department anywhere in the state must show completion of an approved training program.  Please visit the Department of Fire Services Hot Works page for more information.

New Construction

Permits for fire protection work required by Chapters 4, 9 and 34 of the International Building Code and Chapter 3 of the International Residential Code are issued through the building department only.  All plans for this type of work must be submitted on-line to the Building Department. Please visit the Building Department Homepage for more information

You must contact the Fire Department for all normally required inspections. An inspection from the Fire Department shall be required for final occupancy.

Renovations

Permits are required for the impairment, shutdown, maintenance or renovation of any fire protection or carbon monoxide equipment. Permits can be obtained directly from the Fire Department or may be submitted online by clicking below,

Our Permit application process is going online. You will need to complete the proper State forms and then go to our online portal to finish the process.

Procedure:

  1. Select permit form from list above.
  2. All permits must be filled out completely and signed by applicant. 
  3. Log into Permit Portal ViewPoint button
  4. Select FIRE DEPARTMENT and then the appropriate project or permit type
    • You will be required to
      • include copies of licenses and credentials
      • pay for the permit online
