Memorial Day Parade and Observation  

Our Memorial Day Team has been working to develop a plan to observe Memorial Day in a safe and enjoyable manner. On Monday, May 8th, a recommendation was made to the Select Board that was unanimously supported for this year’s observation.

The 2023 Memorial Day Observation will be held on Monday, May 29th

• The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. from Town Hall located at 580 High Street and proceed down High Street to the New Cemetery where a ceremony will take place.

Please be aware High Street between Dover Road and Nahatan Street (including all intersecting public and private ways and driveways in between) will have limited or no public access between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th.

• I am pleased to inform you this year’s Grand Marshall is Mr. Robert “Bob” Ziemian.

• Westwood Media Center will cover the observation but due to the location will not be able to cover it live. The recording will be made available on the Westwood Media Center web page or YouTube channel towards the end of the day on Monday, May 29th.

• Thank you to St. Margaret Mary’s Church for allowing their parking lot to be used for this year’s observation. Given the limited parking in the New Cemetery, we are asking those who attend to use the St. Margaret Mary’s Church parking lot located at 845 High Street.

As of today, the weather forecast for Monday, May 29th looks to be very promising, so we look forward to seeing you at this year’s observation.
