Planning Board

 The Westwood Planning Board is composed of five members; each elected to serve 3-year terms. The current members and their current terms of office are as follows:

The mission of the Planning Board is:
  • To provide for conscientious and orderly land use development through Comprehensive Planning, Subdivision Control and Zoning Bylaw and Zoning Map review;
  • To develop and implement land use development and growth management regulations consistent with the goals and policies of the Town;
  • To protect the natural resources, safety and aesthetic character of the Town through environmental impact and design review/site plan review and the issuance of special permits pursuant to the Zoning Bylaw.
The Planning Board is staffed by the Town Planner and Land Use Assistant. The Planning Office is located at the Carby Street Municipal Office Building.
 
Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon or by appointment.  
 
Downloadable applications and copies of regulations are available on this website, for Preliminary and Definitive Subdivision, Approval Not Required (ANR) Plans, Environmental Impact Design Review (EIDR), Special Permit and Scenic Roads Approval. Contact the Town Planner for further information.
 
A Land Use Committee has been established as a forum for applicants to discuss potential development projects and to assist in the coordinated review of these projects by the various town boards and commissions. The Land Use Committee generally meets at 9:00 am on the first Wednesday of each month. Applicants wishing to appear before the Land Use Committee should contact the Land Use Assistant at least one week prior to the meeting they wish to attend.
